Manifest: The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.
Advent is a time for us to focus and prepare ourselves for Jesus coming in our lives and in our world. It is an opportunity to consider the true meaning of Christmas. The angel that visits Joseph tells him that the child will be called “Immanuel” which means God with us. John writes in his gospel that the “Word was God” and “The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood.” (MSG) Christmas tells us that God is with us. He has moved into the neighborhood. He is real and can be experienced in real, flesh and blood, ways. Jesus manifests the presence of God—He makes it real. He invites us, his followers, to manifest His presence as well. He invites us to make real in our homes, our neighborhoods, our communities, and our world the peace, hope, joy, and love of Christ. He empowers us to do it in real and ordinary ways. This advent will you manifest the presence of God in the world around you? Join us as we encounter God and take on the challenge this Christmas season.
